Men's Ministry Team
The next Men’s Breakfast will take place in the hall at 32 West Street on Saturday 2nd April from 8.15am to 10.00am. The ministry time is to be largely dedicated to testimonies which we will hope encourage and inspire us all. We want to put prayer and testimony right at the heart of our ministry and believe that these are powerful spiritual weapons that can open the way for God to transform lives and situations. We are therefore looking for volunteers who would be willing to share a short testimony with the group. Your testimony does not need to be lengthy, in fact it would be best if it can be kept to no more than about 5 minutes to allow as many who wish to share as possible. Your testimony can be on absolutely anything, from the themes we have explored in previous to breakfasts (forgiveness, unity, encouragement) to something that is more specific to your own circumstances. We will also keep things open for anyone who wishes to share on the day as they are led by the Spirit. If you feel you have a testimony you wish to share please contact one of the leaders.
We would like to make all men who attend Men’s Ministry events aware that we are open to receiving requests for prayer at our breakfast events. These are in addition to the offer of man-to-man prayer that is always available at the end of our breakfast mornings. These requests can be submitted in writing and can be deposited, anonymously if desired, in the prayer request box during each breakfast.
Do you feel God calling you to pray for your brothers in the church? We are seeking volunteers to form a Men’s Prayer Team to pray earnestly through any prayer requests that we receive. Other than a willingness to include these requests in your personal prayer time, there is no other time commitment required. Please contact one of the Men’s Ministry leaders if you feel you can help.
Following today's ABM, below is a summary of the Men's Ministry's work in the church
The Men's Ministry Group has been running since November 2008 and was the original idea of Billy Hudson and Ken Gordon. Since then, Ashley Wood and Ian Stewart have joined the leadership team. Since summer 2010 we have been running a monthly programme of events which alternate between social evenings and men's breakfasts, where most of our ministry work occurs. Our numbers at events range from single figures to well over 20 and we continue to be committed to providing an effective and growing man-to-man ministry in the church. Our vision for the groups is based on the following scripture from Hebrews 10:23-24
"Let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. Let us not give up meeting together ,as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another--and all the more as you see the Day approaching."
Our Mission Statement is as follows:
At the moment our focus is less evangelical and more geared towards meeting the spirtual needs of men within the fellowship of the chruch. However, it is our hope and prayer that as we become more established that the group will expand to reach out to men in the community who are outwith the church.
Thanks go to Ian Stewart and Ami Townsley for their support and provision of the worship at our breakfast events, as well as to Bonus Fombo for his inspiring lessons on forgiveness, unity and encouragement at recent breakfasts.
We continue to expand our ministry through the new provision of taking prayer requests at men's breakfasts and we hope to create a men's prayer team within the group who will commit to pray through these requests.
We have been greatly encouraged by the response of men within the church so far, the encouragement we have received within the wider fellowship, and we appreciate all your prayers for continued growth as we seek to bring men together to meet with God and serve Him.
